Distant Neighbors

Distant Neighbors by John Buxton, Oil, 28 x 30

Oil
28 x 30

Distant Neighbors represents the early pioneer families who first ventured over and beyond the great Appalachian Mountain chain to develop homesteads and a new life that would someday encompass the entire Western Frontier laid out before them. Throughout this expanse, however, were Native American nations who would prove as hostile as the untamed environment. This couple with accompanying guides has a hard and uncertain future ahead...yet they were to be, like those to follow, the backbone for expansion throughout this rugged region.
